Front Office Manager at Sofitel Marseille Vieux port, France
As Front Office Manager, I am in charge of the reception, concierge and customer relations teams. I interact with numerous people in the hotel, such as the executive housekeeper, quality manager, human resources manager and the finance manager.
With a qualification in hotel management and a year spent abroad, I began as a hostess position at the Sofitel Marseille Vieux port. I was in this position for one year before becoming the supervisor. Another year later, I joined the reception team and three months later was promoted to “chef de brigade”, a few months later to head of reception and now Front Office Manager.
A smart appearance is absolutely essential so as to be an ambassador of French elegance. You need to be customer orientated and friendly but also have good negotiation skills. It is also vital to be pedagogical and diplomatic, a good listener and analytical.
To improve my skills and progress, I followed a personalised training programme. I was also accompanied and advised by my hierarchy.
